I am sorry I don’t want to be an emperor that is not my business, I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone, I should like to help everyone if possible Jew, Gentiles, black men or white.
We all want to help one another, human beings are like birds. We want to live by each other’s happiness but not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate or despise one another, in this world there is a room for everyone, even though if I am rich that i can provide for everyone the way of life can be free and beautiful. But we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned many souls and has barricaded the world with hate. And as greed stepped us into misery and bloodshed, we have developed speed but we have shattered our humanity.
Machinery that should be abandoned has left us wanton, our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness adds an unkind, we think too much we feel too little, more than machinery we need humanity, more than cleverness we need kindness, gentleness. Without these quality lives will not be violent no life will be lost.
Aeroplanes and the radios have brought us closer together the very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for the universe of brotherhood and unity of us all. Even now my message is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women and children, victims of the system that makes men tortured and imprisons innocent people.
To those who read this message, I say do not despair, the misery that is now up on us is nothing but a passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fill the way of human progress. And the hate of men will pass and dictators die and the power they took from the people will return to the people and as so long as men die liberty will never perish.
Solders don’t give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you and enslave you who regiment your lives tell you what to do what to think what to feel, who treat you like cartoons, use you as they like don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men, machine minds, machine hearts, you are not machines you not cartoons you are men. You have a lot humanity in your hearts, you don’t hate only the unloved hate, the unloved the unnatural. Solders don’t fight for slavery fight for liberty. The bible says the kingdom of God is within men, not one man not a group of men but in all men, in you the people. People, you have the power, the power to create machine the power to create happiness, you the people have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. In the name of democracy let us assume the power, let us all unite, let us fight for a new world a decent world that will give you a chance to work that would give you the future and security.
By the promise of these things the brutes have assumed to power but they lie they do not fulfil that promise they never will. Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people now let us fight to fulfil that promise, lets fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, to do away with greed with hate and intolerance and let us fight for a world of reason a world with science and progress that will lead to all men happiness.
The beautiful speech above was made by a solder named Charlie Chaplin. But it was translated to this writing by myself to make it more comprehensible. Doing this is not to lay any claim to the rewards attached to the speech but i felt it nice and generous to share it with my people.
