WHY WE NEED TO HAVE A SECOND THOUGHT ABOUT RELIGIONS IN AFRICA.

It is very imperative that we bring our attentions to the major cause of problems that have bedeviled Nigeria as a country or even Africa in general. Obviously we can all see the implications of religions in our society today, but oftentimes we are not brave enough to call a spade a spade. And if we agree that there is a problem but we are shying away from identifying the cause of the problem, that means we are not ready to find a last solution to the problem. To this reason I decide to discuss the problems religions have brought to Nigeria, especially the whole Africa.

Let me quickly define religion as the belief and worship of a superhuman who posses a power or powers to control man's destiny. So the religious adherents act and live their lives in accordance to the rules and laws written in the religious books such as Koran and Bible.

There are thousands of religions in the world, but the most practiced ones especially in Nigeria are Christianity, Islam and the traditional religions. So after the arrival of the abrahamic religions in Nigeria, the following problems can not separated from their impacts in the country.

DOES THE EFFECT OF SLAVERY IN AFRICA STILL AFFECT OUR ORIENTATION?

1. The major purpose of a religion is to create unity and peace, but in reality the reverse is the case. It has caused a lot of divisions in the society: Because every sect always claims that its religion is the accepted one before God, thereby causing problems among them ; The children of one sect are not allowed to marry the children of the other; An as a Muslim getting a job at a Christian owned company is hard and vise versa. So we need to have a second thought religion in Africa.

2. Religion instills fear in its adherents. Because their sermons are often used to threaten or sound a note of warnings to the adherents: That to avoid a curse or damnation, the ways of their lives must be in conformity with some certain principles or guidelines; That they will go to hell if they violate any of the laws; That they will be poor if they don't pay their offerings. So this timidity always limits their freewill to take a certain action their own without any consultation to a religious leader who will happily use that avenue to his own advantage. So we need to have a second thought religion in Africa.

3. Added to the above, a lot of religious racketeers, so-called men of God, use this religion as a means to dupe people, especially the poor ones, of their hard earned money by promising them rewards, some will say they will marry "seven virgins", in heaven while they are enjoying their lives right here on earth. Amazingly there is always a chapter of the books they will quote to support their dubious actions. So we need to have a second thought religion in Africa.

4. In Addition, many political leaders or government use religion as tool to champion their cause by inciting the populace against one other with the use of this slogan " we versus them". So they use religion to cause troubles in the society that always lead to loss of lives and properties.
The practical examples of this in Nigeria are the Boko Haram insurgency issue that Nigeria is currently battling with and the recent crisis in Kaduna state that led to loss of many lives.

5. Religion creates discrimination against women. Even though almost 90 per cent of many religious gatherings are women and they contribute the most to the offertories in those religious gatherings, yet there are certain positions they are not allowed to occupy.  So we need to have a second thought religion in Africa.

6. Religion causes laziness, many of these religious leaders remain solely on the tithes and offerings from their members. They never deem it fit to have their own personal businesses. And they will cunningly schedule their services on the days of week and thereby preventing the members from spending the required time to make maximum sales and profits from their businesses. It's logical, the more time you spend on your business, the higher the sales and the gains will be.  So we need to have a second thought religion in Africa.

7. Religion causes carelessness among its members. That reminds me of a story my mother told me someimes ago. My mother was away when I was a child for several days. I was only home with my Dad. So during this period I got sick instead for him to take me to hospital, he didn't. Because his church doctrine forbade him to use medication but only water. So he kept praying over me and bathing me with water until my mother came around. She could not take it when she saw my condition and quickly rushed me to hospital. It's discovered I needed blood and which was given to me. Had she not come home on time I would not be here to write this post today.
So a lot of children have lost their lives through this means.  So we need to have a second thought religion in Africa.

8. Religion breaks homes and causes murders. Many adherents have received prophecies from their religious leaders that their wives or fathers are behind their problems which have resulted to the adherents maiming or killing their loved ones.  So we need to have a second thought religion in Africa.

9. Finally, religion doesn't encourage critical thinking which has caused Nigeria, or Africa in general, to lag behinds in technology. Because when we will face a challenge instead of looking for away to prevent the challenge from reoccurring and thinking of a way to make our lives better we, attribute it to destiny and the will of God.  So we need to have a second thought religion in Africa.

So if we can stand to face the reality that religion has caused more harm than good in your society I believe that will be a step toward finding a lasting solution to the current crisis and the under development problems we find ourselves in Nigeria or in Africa as a whole.

Note: I do not write this to condemn any religion, because I also do believe in the existence of God. But I only write this as a wake up call to reality. Which will serve as a bold step in making our country a better place.

THE STEPS TO POVERTY THAT MANY PEOPLE UNKNOWINGLY TAKE.

Many people continue to remain poor because they trend on the path of poverty. I believe it is everyone's dream to find a lasting solution to poverty.
But many fail to identify some certain steps, that when taking it is a direct path to poverty. So for those who want to get rid of poverty in life, these steps are to be recognized and worked upon.

Having only one major way of income:
To remain poor for life is to rely on one major way of making money. Many people depend only on their monthly salaries without taking any steps to get any additional means of generating incomes. No matter how well paid you are at end of the month, depending solely on the salary means  you are trending on a  path of poverty.

STOP WORRYING ABOUT BEAUTY, HERE IS THE SECRET. READ ABOUT IT HERE

 Exhausting your earnings:
Once you have chosen "spend it all" as your slogan, you should know that you have signed a contract with poverty. Some people find it hard to save from their earnings. They never consider savings important. So if you always finish your salary without saving part of it for investments and as something to fall back to in a financial crisis, you are trending on a path of poverty.

Believing that getting rich is magical:
When you believe that getting rich requires some magic. That getting rich always requires illegit means. This belief won't enable you to focus on the legit means to make money. So when you have this mindset about getting rich, you are trending on the path of poverty.

Not investing in yourself:
To succeed in a particular field or an enterprise requires learning the technical know-how of that field or the enterprise as the case maybe. And many people always fail to invest on themselves to learn the skills required towards becoming experts in their various fields of choice. So when you fail to invest on yourself, to succeed in that field will be very hard and you will never keep pace with your contemporaries. And this will result to a trend on the path of poverty.

Piling up debts:
When you get a loan always use it for investments. And the loans must be serviced as and when due. In a case where you have accumulated debts you should clear them all. Because doing so will speak well of your integrity.

Failure to create budgets:
Once you fail to create budgets and work towards achieving them. that is a trend on a path of poverty.

Failure to take risks:
If you can't recognize an opportunity when you see one. And when you often scared to take a calculated risk, you are trending on a path of poverty.

Be Indecisive:
Lastly,  when you are indecisive about taking a cogent decision on achieving your plans or when taking calculated risks , it will pose a problem for you on your path to a financial victory.

So if the steps to financial problems discussed above can be acknowledged and worked on, I believe poverty will surely go into extinction in everyone's life.

STOP WORRYING ABOUT BEAUTY. HERE IS THE SECRET.

I have seen a lot of ladies who always feel inferior in the midst of their friends, because they see themselves ugly while their friends beautiful. Thereby it makes them to think that they are no match with their peers which brings about this inferiority complex in them. So, today I decide  to write about this to address this issue.
Do you know Confidence bring beauty?
On a pathway to beauty is confidence. And to be confident you should consider the following steps -
Being comfortable with yourself:
To be comfortable with yourself you need to give a full consideration to what you put on. This does not necessary mean putting on something expensive. It means wearing something you are comfortable in.  And being comfortable in your wears means you are happy wearing them. Because when you are happy with yourself it builds confidence in you. Which is what you need.

Giving a great consideration to neatness :
I would have omitted this point because it sounds laughable asking anyone to be neat. But truth be told , it is not everyone that considers neatness as that important. One will be amazed when one sees sometimes how dirty the undies a lady is putting on are. When ladies should always be in the forefront for the advocacy of this quality. So no matter how simple your wears are, ensure they are neat.

self-appreciation:
You need to appreciate youself by seeing yourself  beautiful, happy, intelligent and enviable. So you should see yourself the way you want people to see you. You should know that before anyone will like you, you neet to like yourself. If you don't like yourself nobody will like you. Stop seeing yourself ugly. People see you the way you see yourself.

Never pay attention to the bad comments some people might make against you:
Some people will never be happy seeing you happy. So they tend to say bad things about you in a bid to bring you down, to create fear in you, to see yourself inferior to them. The logic is that when you feel down you create the room for them to feel superior. Which is their main objective. So never give ear to any negative comments about you.

Though there are a lot books written about how to be confident, but the most important thing is that when you like and appreciate yourself it will strike out inferiority complex in you.
               Nobody is ugly!
Beauty is from the mind. No one is ugly. It is your thinking that sends a clear signal out on how you want to be seen and treated by people.

So the bottom line is that to be beautiful out there, you need to have confidence in yourself . Having confidence in yourself makes you think beautifully about yourself. In return beauty will be generated in you, you will feel beauty and reflect beauty to the outside world.

IS ATIKU ABUBAKAR MORE QUALIFIED TO RULE THIS COUNTRY?

Who is the better candidate to vote for in the 2019 presidential election in this country between the flagbearer of Action Progress Congress, president Muhamed Buhari and the formal vice president, Atiku Abubakar presidential candidate of People Democratic Party.
CAN NIGERIA RECOVER HER LOST VALUES? READ ABOUT IT HERE

In this article I will limit my analysis on these two candidates since they represent the two strongest political parties in the country.
The image shows president Buhari and the formal vice president Atiku

Is the President Muhamed Buhari qualified to rule the country for another four years?

To rule a country effectively requires more than having the discipline to fight against corruption , and fighting corruption requires more than having a military background. Though the major problem of this country is corruption. But to be a president that will have meaningful impacts in a country requires the ability to identify the right from the left, and having the supreme qualities of leadership such as honesty and integrity, fairness and justice to all, the ability to listen to the cries of the masses and having a strong vision for the country's future and many more.

DOES THE EFFECT OF SLAVERY IN AFRICA STILL AFFECT OUR ORIENTATION

President Muhamed Buhari is known for his no nonsense approach to corruption since his military regime in 1984. But in a multicultural society like Nigeria, won't it be ruinous to the development of the country if we continue to have someone who harbors sentiments against the other regions in the parts of the country? Since it is well known that sentiments bread unfairness  in the society . And president Buhari is said to be sentimental in his dispensation of his responsibilities  as the president of the country.

And his unfairness and injustice has created the worst divisions in the history of the country.
This has resulted to separatist agitations for the Republic of Biafra, Niger Delta and Oduduwa Republic
The image of the separatists agitating for the Republic of Biafra

So, considering his unfair treatments in his adminstration and his poor economical performance in his last three years as the president of the country, it can't be termed incorrrect to conclude that president Buhari is not fit or is not competent enough to rule this country.

But, is the formal vice president, Atiku Abubakar, the right choice?

It is a fact that Nigeria has become a country where corruption is celebrated - Pastors hail, pray and provide special seats for the members who donate more money to the church without giving a consideration to the sources of the money. Even people rally round and praise those who get their wealth through immoral means - being yahoo yahoo, or politicians that embezzle Nigeria money, once they spray the money around they are called philanthropists.

But, is the above reason sufficient to make a man whose record is full of corruption  to be the number one citizen of the country?

Atiku Abubakar has been alleged several times of corruption since the days he created his NICOTES/Intels. Then he was accused of money laundering. And also his involvement in a purported bribe associated with the award of a broadband contract to a US-based enterprise, iGate Incorporated with an indictment of a Louisiana representative William J. Jefferson in 2005. Which resulted to his inability to travel to the US in the past 10 years.

Since the type of a leader a group or society has sends unwritten messages about the group or the society itself to the general public. Though Atiku Abubakar has the necessary educational background and experiences to be a president.  Is it wise to have someone who has been labelled with the immoral means of accumulating wealth the number one citizen of a whole country?

The choice of whom to vote for now is left to every individual - Is it the one who is alleged of bigotry that creates more divisions in the country or the one with integrity issue that will later affect the integrity of the country as a whole or the new parties candidates?

DOES THE EFFECT OF SLAVERY IN AFRICA STILL AFFECT OUR ORIENTATION?

It is not gainsaying that the political system in Lagos state has totally become autocratic where the reigns of the state have been handed over to one man, supported by an army of untrained politicians whose only foothold in politics is dependent on the same man and, the support of the unguided poor masses for a token  given to them by this same man.
CHECK OSUN STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION - THE CONFIRMATION OF A BITTER TRUTH.
When one overhears the members of the ruling party, APC, expressing their grievances on how a man is deciding the fate of the state by imposing every governorship aspirant in the party on them, one will only try to find out if there is no available platform for them to offer their contributions  towards the decision making in the party?"

In 2014 during APC primary election, Ambode was the Tinubu anointed candidate over other aspirants in the party. But a primary was held, where the members were given the opportunity to choose their favorite candidates, but Ambode effectually became the party flag bearer in the governorship race. Surprisingly there was hue and cry after the election that Ambode was imposed on the party, who later became the the governor of the state?
But, how did Ambode win the primary since only Tinubu' s vote can't make him win the election?
CAN NIGERIA RECOVER HER LOST VALUE?

In a saint society it would be expected that the party members learn how to speak with a voice to decide the fate of the party in the next primary election , but it's pathetic to discover that no lesson was learned and no action was taken to prevent a reoccurrence of such.

Expectedly there has been a disagreement between the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the governor Ambode over his second term ambition. Governor Ambode was asked to forget his second term ambition as the Lagos state governor by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu because he has deviated from the guidelines of the National Leader and of his refusal to follow the blueprint of the state development.

But this statement can be alluded to the governor's refusal to channel the Lagos state generated revenue to the Asiwaju's coffer for his own political use.
On the 2nd of October, APC primary election was held where the two contestants aspiring to be the party's flag bearer in the state governorship election were Akinwunmi Ambode, the Lagos state governor, and Sanwo Olu, the anointed  candidate of the APC National leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

To cut the long story short, Sanwo Olu was declared the winner of the APC primary election after every APC member was paid 15000 naira to vote for "the anointed one" and prevented those who refused to take the money to vote for Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday.
Check the video of the of the election where it was said that nobody would be allowed to vote for Ambode
And despite the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party declared the election null and void, APC insisted that the election was valid.

Governor Ambode later released a statement on the 3rd of October, to accept the defeat and congratulate the winner of the election, Sanwo Olu.
The video clip where the winner of the election was announced

But I think the way Africans act or think can be attributed to the effects of slavery in the continent where they were conditioned to think and act in accordance to instructions or orders.
If this horrible orientation is not changed Nigeria will never moved forward.

But will Nigerians orientation ever change?

Fate is really tricky, the more you try to figure it out, the more you just get confused.
Its better to leave it alone and let it have its way.

So, I think the mistakes  I have made and the good deeds I have done make me whom I am today.
If I had gone back to relive it, I wouldn't have being me because I like being me.

So we should never regret making the mistakes we have made in the past because that is what makes us whom we are today - strong, matured and experienced persons.

And things happen randomly for no reasons at all, but they create opportunities and we should learn from these opportunities.

But the question is; can we recognize this opportunity that matters the most when we see one?
